Beginning her career as a correspondent for Voice of America in East Africa, Tabitha Mukamusoni covered numerous conflicts in her home country of Burundi, exposed human rights violations, and defended the most vulnerable, even at the risk of her own life. In 2015, after receiving death threats, she was forced to flee Burundi and sought refuge in Canada. Her life journey has been one marked by courage, resilience, and a deep commitment to giving a voice to the voiceless.

Upon arriving in Canada in 2016, Tabitha worked as a journalist, bringing her extensive experience from her time with Voice of America. She later became the director of Radio CFRG, the community French radio station in Gravelbourg, and the Association communautaire fransaskoise de Gravelbourg (ACFG). In these roles, she has been instrumental in training and mentoring numerous individuals from across Canada in the field of broadcasting. Her leadership has helped shape the station into a hub for local and regional programming, ensuring that the community has a platform for their voices to be heard.

Through her work with ACFG, she also played a key role in fostering connections and helping new immigrants integrate into the community. She has assisted newcomers in navigating their new surroundings, finding essential services, and feeling welcomed in their new home.

Living in a small town like Gravelbourg has brought Tabitha closer to the people, allowing her to gain a deep appreciation for the challenges faced by rural communities. As a mother of four children, she is especially attuned to the needs of local families, understanding the realities of family life in Moose Jaw—Lake Centre—Lanigan.

As a candidate for the Liberal Party in Moose Jaw—Lake Centre—Lanigan, Tabitha is committed to creating good jobs, supporting local families and small businesses, and building a prosperous future for all. She is eager to collaborate with Mark Carney to strengthen the middle class, support rural development, and foster an economy that benefits everyone.
